‘Sisters R Doing It’ running group, based in Redcar, volunteered their time to support the Redcar Parkrun on Saturday, 11th May.
There was a great turn-out of volunteers and runners, to spread the word about the groups and the event.
A lovely warm, sunny day saw a sea of pink as the SRDI team turned out in force to help run the free event. Participants completed three laps of Locke Park and despite the heat, many runners still managed to achieve a personal best.
Ice creams were served at the finish line in celebration of Redcar Parkrun’s recent 7th birthday.
The Parkrun is a 5km run – it’s you against the clock. Participants can run, jog or walk round the course every Saturday at 9am in Locke Park, Redcar. See Course page for more details.
You can join for free! Please register before your first run. Go along, join in and enjoy, whatever your pace!
Without volunteers the Parkrun wouldn’t be able to go ahead, as they organise the event – please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
The Sisters R Doing It groups, aspiring and beginners, hold weekly running sessions, exclusively for women. The group aims to help women believe in themselves, improve their fitness and to socialise and make new friends. The Sisters R Doing It group and the Parkrun are a great way of keeping fit and meeting like-minded people and new friends.
