‘Kick Off The Summer 1918’ In Redcar

Friends of Redcar (FRED’s) kick off the summer season this weekend with sand art, games, activities, music and performances at Tuned In!, Majuba Road, Redcar.

This year’s sand sculptures will return in the theme of World War One, inspired by iconic images and local stories.

The full programme of this weekend’s events and activities is as follows:

Saturday, 26th May, 10am to 4pm

World class sand art, indoor vintage market, craft and community stalls, everyone active sport activities, punch and judy, peaky blinders bar with vintage singer Claire Louise, presentation from Phil Philo, children’s entertainment including donkey rides.

Sunday, 27th May, 10am to 4pm

World class sand art continues, vintage market, craft and community stalls, everyone active sport activities, singing of first world war songs by local primary school children (live rehearsal), punch and judy, peaky blinders bar with vintage singers, drama performance – “fall in” (live rehearsal), presentation from Dr. Rob Hawkes, children’s entertainment including donkey rides.

Monday, 28th May, 10am to 4pm

Chariots of Fire beach race, world class sand art completion, vintage market, craft and community stalls, everyone active sport activities, presentation from Peter Sotheran, punch and judy, peaky blinders bar with vintage singer Claire Louise, drama performance – “fall in” british legion parade singing of first world war songs by local primary school children.
