‘Sisters’ Fly Down The Runway

Members of Redcar’s ‘Sisters ‘R’ Doing It’ running group took part in a new event at the Elvington Airfield in York to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force.

The ladies completed laps on the actual airfield runway, covering either 5 or 10 miles.

The RAF Centenary is being marked by special events, activities and other initiatives at local, regional and national levels, running until the end of November. The main event, in July, will be a centenary service in Westminster Abbey, followed by a parade in The Mall and spectacular flypast over Buckingham Palace.

With a full calendar of events across the country, and the globe, this will be an exciting year for the RAF.
